Design System

Company: Sky Creative

While working on Sky's Digital Marketing assets we noticed that we were starting each project from scratch, which resulted in inefficiencies and inconsistencies.

The goal of the Design System for Sky’s Digital Marketing was to create a scalable framework that ensured consistency across all assets while improving team efficiency.

The Design System needed to be adaptable across various channels and products. I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to bring Sky's design vision to life, and conducted user research and usability testing to gather valuable insights that informed the design decisions.

0.1 Design Audit

We started with a comprehensive review and analysis of Sky’s existing digital design components for Display banners. Identifying areas for improvement and any inconsistencies.

02. Best Practice Principles

After reviewing industry standard digital best practices we developed a set of principles to base our decisions on. This including timing, messaging & animation.

03. Information Architecture

We analysed the current structure of Sky’s display banners and restructured based on our best practice principles and findings. This required many iterations of all 8 sizes to find a structure that worked.

04. User Testing

We then used UserZoom to do some user testing. This meant we were able to validate our designs and make user-focused design decisions.

05. Component Library

Once we had our final structure in place we then created a component library to base the structure of our design system. This is now used by several designers and developers across Sky to ensure design consistency and efficiency.
